Holiday Musical Sidebar

I forgot one of the most awesomest Christmas songs ever. I'm ashamed I did too. Which one?

Christmas in Hollis by Run D.M.C. Its now in the sidebar. Speaking of which...

I have been getting about an additional 30-50 hits a day simply because of my boy Dominic the Italian Christmas Donkey hanging out over there. All the paisans love Dominic. Hell, Dominic has been listened to 337 times since his posting. He'll be gone on the 26th, so get your listens in now.

Hey Michael,

I think your comment labels are hilarious...mind if I do the same thing in mine? I don't know if it is your original idea, but you are the only person I've seen with those messages.

Jose - The messages and idea were mine, although someone may have done it before. I just grew sick of the standard "2 Comments" on posts. So, once I finally figured out how to change it, I had one thing for zero comments and one for 1+. Then I thought... "hey, I know how to code, lets see if this works." Next thing you know I have the comment line changing all the time.

Feel free to use it on yours. Everyone does a small amount of idea snatching in the blog world. I know I've done my fair share.

actually... it saying something besides "comments" was me copying others. I've seen, as you probably have, the people who have it creatively saying one thing instead of the norm.

It was my idea to do some real coding, and make it change depending on how many comments were there.

Isn't that the way the best ideas happen though? Take one idea, change it around, add to it, and you have a new and better idea.

somewhat bizarrely, I heard "Dominic the Italian Christmas Donkey" being played on the radio this morning - the BBC no less. I had never heard it before, wondered what the hell it was and why a reindeer can't climb a hill, and then read this. Is it big over with you guys then? (the DJ on the BBC has just been to New York and came back with a cd of American Xmas classics - we have our own traditional songs here, and we hear them all of the time: Slade, Shakin' Stevens, Wizzard... that kind of thing... so to hear a new one from time to time is much to be encouraged.)

ST - I'd put Dominic as being a cult following. If you are italian, like myself, you know the song. If your not, you have to be influenced by one of my breed. (all americans are not only american, but we tend to ramble off a list of nationalities where our roots are from)

New York has a large italian population, so... that could very well be why he heard it there.

Not a big song, but a big cult song. Has its core followers, etc.
